Trashion

Ji4Ye partnered with Stop don’t drop is an anti-litter campaign to implement Nigeria’s first ever ‘Trashion’. The project was developed to create awareness about the problem of litter and its effects on people and the environment, as well as the need take positive actions to mitigate them using creative ways to pass on the message. Ji4Ye provided technical support and on-the- ground support in delivering the project goals. The event which was implemented in Abuja brought together diplomats from different countries, fashion enthusiasts, the media and youths from all works of life. Top-class models (male/female) wore and showcased the designs made from trash to the delight of participants. This exhibition featured outfit and handcrafts made from these recyclables.

The wearable and stylish outfits and accessories, were created using nothing but textile waste- popularly known as “off cuts” and recyclable materials, such as old newspapers, plastic bottles and other materials that would ordinarily end up in dumpsite or be burnt both of which are detrimental to the environment. The idea behind TRASHION is to get people to see value in these materials thereby re-using instead of throwing them away which in the long run will reduce materials that end up in dumpsites and constitute environmental hazard.
